Hi all. How high does blood pressure have to be in pregnancy for doctors to perform a c-section?

35 yrs old,first pregnancy and have had high blood pressure from beginning of pregnancy. Doc gave me medication but blood pressure back up to 144/92.Should i be prepared for c-section.Thanks to all who take time to answer this for me.

Anyone who is pregnant should be prepared for a c-section, you just never know. However, there is no magic blood pressure number that will determine whether or not you get a c-section. If your doctor determines its time to deliver you they will try to induce you first and try and give you the best chance possible for a vaginal delivery. If you aren't progressing, or the baby's heart rate drops, or your blood pressure continues to elevate then they will do a c-section. If you weren't planning on taking an epidural be prepared that your doctor will want you to take one because it helps to bring your blood pressure down while you are in labor.
