Do you know how to treat a bad grease burn?

I work in a deli and got a bad grease burn on my arm a couple days ago. It blistered and I've been protecting it. Today the blister burst and left a large hole that is very painful. What is the best way to treat? I am at more risk of infection as I'm a diabetic.

You have a 2nd degree burn, which is fairly serious. Taking into consideration that burns and broken blisters get infected very easily, and that you are at an even higher risk for infection, I would strongly advise you go to the doctor. They can debride the burn if that's needed, they can dress it properly, and you can get prescription burn creams (such as silver sulfidiazine) from them. Having it professionally treated will cut down the risk of infection and, as it will in all likelihood heal properly, you will have less scarring.

What is a good stethoscope?

I'm a medical student in school for becoming an RN and I was just wondering what stethoscope would be good for my use. I'm probably going to use it for lung sounds, blood pressure, and maybe a little bit of hear sounds. What do you suggest? I don't have a crazy budget, and I was wondering if 50 dollars and under would suffice my needs. Here are some that I found so far, but I'm not too sure if they are good. Thanks in advance!

I think Lightweight will suffice for your objectives. be sure to have a stethoscope with a bell and diaphragm, and check for the tubes, if it's thick or not. if you cannot check it personally, then i would say that still Littmann is the best out there

how long does it take for a diabetic foot ulcer to develop?

umm i have a cast and i believe its called a diabetic foot ulcer, when part of your foot is wet and cannot try, so it stays wet and develps into a diabetic foot ulcer. i have a cast on for the next week and i have already had to change my cast once before because i my cast wet on the bottom of my foot. but i have another one i think on the top of my foot, its around the same pain as it was before but not as bad. i was just wondering if i should leave it because theres only seven days left with my cast until i get it off, or go back to get it taken off. i dont exactly want to go back because the hospital have already stated that there going to be very angry if i come back. i only can feel the same pain when i push down on it.

i looked at that site and i have all of the symptoms except the thirst one just because im too lazy to get something to drink that often but i am almost always thirsty. my grandma was diagnosed with diabetes too but my dad was adopted by her but she is his aunt or maybe second aunt, so shes my great aunt-ish i suppose. but im really worried and i dont know if i should be.

Worry is a waste of time , my dear. If you know someone that has a Glucometer , then check in the morning before you eat anything. Here are the numbers:
Normal Fasting Blood Sugar
A normal fasting blood sugar (which is also the blood sugar a normal person will see right before a meal) is:

83 mg/dl (4.6 mmol/L) or less.

Diabetes Type 1: Symtoms of type 2

In type 1, the pancreas stop producing insulin, due to autuimmune response or possibly viral attack on pancreas. In absence of insulin, body cells does not get glucose for producing ATP (Adenosin Triphosphate) units which results into primary symptom in the form of nausea and vomiting. In latter stage which leads to ketoacidosis in which body starts breaking down muscle tissue and fat for energy, there is consequently fast weight loss. Dehydration is also usually observed due to electrolyte disturbance. In advance stages even coma and death, are being witnessed.

Diabetes Type 2:

* Increased fatigue : Due to inefficiency of cell to metabolise glucose, reserve fat of body is metabolised to gain energy. When fat is broken down in the body, it uses more energy as compared to glucose, hence body goes in negative calorie effect, which results in fatigue.
* Polydipsia : As the concentration of glucose increases in the blood, brain receives signal for diluting it and in its counteraction we feel thirsty.
* Polyuria: Increase in urine production is the result seen when excess of glucose is present in body. Body tries to get rid of the extra sugar in the blood by excreting it through the urine. This can also lead to dehydration because excreting the sugar which carries a large amount of water out of the body along with it.
* Polyphegia : The hormone insulin is also responsible for stimulating hunger. In order to cope up with high sugar levels in blood, body produces insulin which leads to increased hunger.
* Weight flactuation : Factors like loss of water (polyuria), glucosuria , metabolism of body fat and protein may lead to loss of weight. Few cases may show weight gain due to increased appetite.
* Blurry vision : Hyperosmolar hyperglycemia nonketotic syndrome is the condition when body fluid is pulled out of tissues including lenses of eye, which affects the ability of lenses to focus resulting in blurry vision.
* Irritability : It is one of the sign of high blood sugar because of the inefficient supply of glucose to brain and other body organs, which makes us feel tired and uneasy.
* Infections : Certain signals from the body is given whenever there is fluctuation of blood sugar (due to suppression of immune system) by frequent infections of fungal or bacterial like skin infection or UTI (urinary tract infection).
* Poor wound healing : High blood sugar resists the flourishing of WBC, (white blood cell) which are responsible for body immune system. When these cells do not function accordingly, wound healing is not at good pace. Secondly, long standing diabetes leads to thickening of blood vessels which may affect proper circulation of blood in different body parts.

So get checked , because worry can lead to Depression.

What is the treatment for chronic kidney disease stage 3, with patient being hypertensive and diabetic?

In general, somebody with Stage 3 Chronic Kidney Disease and diabetes:

1. Goal BP less than 130/80
2. Good Diabetes control
3. Monitor Cholesterol
4. Avoids NSAIDS (Advil, Motrin, Alleve, etc.)
5. Have periodic blood work to monitor renal function, and check for the presence of anemia and overactive parathyroid glands. These problems can usually be treated with medicines.
6. Modest amounts of protein in the diet.
7. Use of ACE Inhibitors or ARB type of blood pressure medicine
8. Check the urine for protein.

Your doctor (internist or kidney doctor) should be discussing your individual situation.
