i work at the homeless shelter and part of my job is drug screens, however over half of the guest there are on RX medicine but our staff is not familiar with what will show positive and what category..

If i peed in a cup just a little bit then for the rest i put in water will it show up as positive for thc or negative for thc??? or if i just dipped the little tab thingy in hot water will it work or will it just say error or somethin?

Monitor Baby Heartbeat At Home

How do you tell the difference between fetal heartbeat and fetal blood flow?

I am 18.5 weeks pregnant and I have a fetal heart monitor at home. I can hear the fetal blood flow but I am not sure if I can hear the heartbeat. If there is good fetal blood flow does that mean the baby is perfectly fine? or should i keep looking around for the heartbeat. I could be crazy and be hearing the heartbeat its just so hard to tell so I wanted to know if the blood flow was good enough to hear.

Hi! I had the same problem and it was because the baby was moving around so much it was hard to get an accurate heart rate. The heartbeat will sound like a galloping horse. Usually once you find the fetal blood flow the heartbeat can be heard in the general area of that. Here's a website that has a clip of what the heartbeat sounds like. You may have heard it and didn't realize what it was. (like me!) Good luck!

I have another issue. I'm doing a visual analysis essay on smoking and drinking.?

I need to know a correct place in my paragraph to incorporate my visual. Here is my paragraph:

"If one does not drink alcohol moderately, dire consequences will result. People who have a tendency to drink heavily will have bad health and possibly a shorter life (Hanson, Alcohol and Health). Like cigarettes, alcoholic beverages carry health warnings, so people must take careful consideration as to how much alcohol they consume. The visual is showing a black man and woman. The man is holding a Miller Lite beer beverage. The little slogan is "life is good. I have a couple of new things in my life." The woman is just there, making the man look good.

I'm confused. Wouldn't you want your visual to illustrate what you are saying? The visual you describe doesn't do that at all. Maybe if you showed a wino passed out on the ground in front of a bar it would. And I'd probably put it after the second sentence.

Why do blood pressure readings vary so much in such a short period of time?

Just got back from longs and used their blood pressure checker. First reading was a little alarming at 133/91. Then about 30 seconds later I ran it again and it came out a nice cool 114/82. Same thing happened at the doctors office a few months back. Nurse gets me when I first come in and it's like 140/?. Then not five minues later the doctor does the same test (different device) and it comes out normal 120 over something. What gives?

stress effects it a lot.. maybe you were more stressed the time it was higher.. also, if you are walking around right before you take it, it will be higher than if you rest a bit before taking it..

Men's Blood Pressure Question?

My father is a veteran, 63 and overweight.
He has annual checkups at the VA and has been on
Lisinopril 40MG for a few years for hypertension.

About two or three weeks before his checkup he starts preparing an Excel chart of his daily BP to give to the Doctor at his appointment.

He knows that because of "White Coat Syndrome", his BP when taken at his visit to the clinic is typically abnormally higher (around 180/70) than it would be when taken at home while relaxed.

Within the course of an hour or so, he will take three readings using the digital BP LifeSource monitor, so he gets three different readings....
A) 131/55 (pulse-52)
B) 123/55 (pulse-51)
C) 112/53 (pulse-52)
(these are today's readings)

The BP testing is done while he is in a relaxed state but typically they will range from high to low like shown above.
Which of the three should he use for charting purposes...
the higher or the lower reading and how unusual would a range like that be?

He should 1) chart all three AND (this is very important) 2) he should bring his electronic meeter to the doctor's office, and check his Bp with it, then have the Doc do it. It would be interesting to see if it doesn't need calibration.

How are surgeons so mentally strong, not even FLINCHING at the site of blood?

Can any surgeons or doctors please tell me HOW can they keep their composure so professionally without even having shaky hands, with zero stress in operations???

Considering all the blood, flesh, and pressure that surrounds them..how is it that they are so mentally strong and don't even flinch?

I've even seen videos of surgeons performing circumcisions on babies who havent even been given any anesthesia. The blood curdling screams were messed up, yet he kept performing the BRUTAL operation, and made JOKES too..no stress at all.

How are they so desensitized to it?

It's their job! Not everybody is scared of flesh and blood. As for the pressure, well they've trained for years and years to deal with it. Obviously if you stepped into an operating theatre to do surgery you'd be nervous as hell because you have no experience or training and wouldn't know what you were doing. Its like asking how a policeman can confidently walk a beat or how a footballer can play a match without freaking out. It's just what they do! Footballers aren't scared of grass, policemen aren't scared of yobs.... surgeons aren't scared of blood. Pressure is just part of the job.

And i don't think they'd perform circumcisions without some sort of anaesthetic. Just because the baby was awake, doesn't mean the area was not numb. They aren't sadistic! If they can rid you of pain, they will!
