BLOOD PRESSURE READINGS? PLEASE ANSWER?
Please tell me what blood pressure readings are higher or lower than 120/80 mmHg
97/69 mmHg - higher or lower?
123/60 mmHg - higher or lower?
97/55 mmHg - higher or lower?
Pleasee answer
Additional Details
I thought the 123/60 mmHg was higher than 120/80 mmHg but my teacher said it's not?
In that case, they would all be lower. The 123/60 is lower because of the 60, and I think the 123 is not really statistically different from 120.

Why is my blood pressure normal when I lie on my left side with the cuff on my left arm?
I have high blood pressure. Usually 150's / 100's sometimes higher. I do not take any meds. I noticed the other day that when I take a measurement while lying on my left side that the pressure came back down to completely normal range (115/65). WHY?
Posture affects blood pressure, the systolic is usually around 8 mmHg lower and the diastolic 5 mmHg lying down compared to sitting. Yours was considerably lower than that but I still think it's physiological. However, it could be due to a number of other factors.
- Did you use the same instrument?
- Is it clinically validated? The mercury sphygmomanometer with a stethoscope is the most accurate but of course difficult to managed by yourself.
- Was it on the same arm as the other times? It should always be measured on the arm that has the highest pressure.
- the 150s/100 - did you measure them yourself or was it at the doctor's office? People tend to get nervous around the doctor which causes the blood pressure to rise - it's called white coat hypertension.

Was she in pain or not during her life?
I'm 18 and my mother recently passed due to complications from hypoglycemia. She was a diabetic and her sugar went low, she went unconscious and was in a coma. The doctors pronounced her brain dead. We decided to pull the plug. It has been bothering me for a while. When a persons sugar reaches a low enough number to cause hypoglycemia, does that person die in pain? Do they die or end up in a coma from suffocation, loss of oxygen and glucose to the brain? Is that a painful or peaceful death? Thanks.
being in a coma is just like going to sleep, no pain at all. I am sorry for your lose. She went very peacefully.

Complications in diabetes treatment?
1.
"Even with successful treatment, diabetes survivors are at risk of serious complications, such as CV disease, kidney failure, and blindness"
2.
"Truly successful treatment minimizes complications by narrowing the gap between a healthy glucose homeostasis pattern and that derived from therapeutic treatment"
-Matching basal and post-prandial glucose and insulin levels to those of healthy individuals.
-Individuals have different levels of dysfunction.
What's the second point trying to say?
And what's it mean by basal and post-pranial glucose/insulin levels?
The 2nd to me is saying that Diabetics if they follow the patterns of a healthy Ind. glucose pattern, on what the Non-Diabetics blood glucose levels are before a meal, after a meal, while sleeping, etc. they will have less health problems.
Basal rate, as it relates to Diabetics is calculated by how much insulin a normal pancreas secretes to keep a persons blood sugars in normal range or in a Diabetics case with the help of an insulin pump; it allows a Diabetic (insulin dependent) to set the appropriate basal rate or amount of insulin to pump every hour to maintain their blood glucose levels to the similar levels of a non-diabetic (ex. 0.65 per hour basal rate)
Post-prandial not 100% sure but have a strong feeling it means After Eating glucose levels which should be checked two hours after eating to ensure that your basal rate or as I call it fasting (no food) glucose level versus what my blood sugar is after I eat. Which determines if a Diabetic is taking to little or too much insulin over a period of time and if monitored closely a Diabetic can come close to the blood sugar levels of a non-diabetics basal and post prandial glucose levels and in the end have fewer complications.
Hope this helps a little, even I got a bit confused by this wording and pretty knowledgable about diabeties treatment and slang.
